Welcome

America’s middle-class is on a roller coaster of rising debt, falling household income and high anxiety. Economists, policymakers, pundits and millions of American families now recognize that decades of middle-class economic security have been erased in a few short years. To make matters worse, meager job growth, stagnant wages, and rising costs for food, energy and healthcare mean that the bumpy ride may be far from over.

The Forum on Contemporary Issues in Society presented author and television news pundit Arianna Huffington to FOCIS. On Wednesday, October 13, Ms. Huffington spoke on her book, Third World America, offering her unique perspective on America’s rapidly disappearing middle class, the betrayal of the American dream and the danger that the United States is on a slippery slope toward becoming a third world nation.
