Sustainability

Sustainability

The concept of sustainability implies a just and responsible interaction with nature, enabling us to meet the current needs of human society without harming ourselves, the environment or biological diversity for future generations. Considering the pressures of increasing population, developing nations and worldwide industrialization, we are confronted with the need to create a sustainable future on a global scale. FOCIS discussions are designed to stimulate creative discussion on sustainability in many forms – whether economic, social and environmental – and highlight the necessity of adapting to our changing planet, reversing environmental damage where possible, and re-examining our lifestyle and our impact on nature and the well-being of our communities.
